Dr. Naomi Jeanty-Higgins

Dr. Naomi Jeanty-Higgins is a physician, a Miami native of rich Haitian-descent. She earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Interdisciplinary Natural Sciences in Chemistry from the University of South Florida in Tampa and later earned her medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine located in the lush green beautiful island of Dominica. She completed her residency training at the Larkin Community Hospital General Psychiatry Program in South Miami, Florida in Summer 2019. Dr. Jeanty-Higgins specialties include mood and anxiety disorders, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, trauma, OCD, sleep disorder, psychosis, schizophrenia, sexual dysfunction, and substance use disorder, in addition to treating performance anxiety for musicians and recording artists.

Dr. Jeanty-Higgins' position as a psychiatrist blossomed into something greater and worthwhile after working at the University of Miami School of Medicine in the Division of Pediatric Immunology & Infection Diseases as a clinical research associate involved in prospective cohort measure to study the long term safety of antiretroviral agents for infants exposed to these agents born to HIV infected mothers. This is where she would be exposed to the plethora of psychosocial shifts and dynamism and how they both played a role in particularly underrepresented women with dual diagnoses pertaining to substance use and mental illnesses. For that reason, she plunged full force in the area of psychiatry, a place where balance is key. Her goal is to work with patients--building steps along the way to their journey of peace and harmony.

Her joy comes from knowing a client can reach out to their community to help shape it judiciously and in a keen way. In meeting with clients, Dr. Jeanty-Higgins continually stress the importance of psychotherapy and self-care and if necessary psychopharmacological agents. By practicing this triad model, Dr. Jeanty-Higgins approach each client with great compassion and care, bringing about a harmonic, rhythmic balance to their well-being. At the same time, educating clients and abstracting a careful comprehensive biopsychosocial report is part of her forefront to help clients understand the full scope of the disorder process and approach to psychopharmacological agents’ mechanism.
She integrates her talents as an active listener, to engage in the betterment of the lives of people and committed to her mission--merging music, mental health and medicine.

At the same time, Dr. Jeanty-Higgins has a profound passion and love for music since childhood. She seeks to not only provide her skills and expertise as a physician in psychiatric care, but it is of utmost important she incorporates her love of music and singing in the form of music therapy.

Naomi Jeanty-Higgins is a singer who enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, writing, watching movies, listening to live music, gardening and interior design.
